Call for Papers

Scholars interested in attending the seminar and present papers in any of the above themes are invited to submit an abstract (within 300 words) complete with the title of the paper, authours name (s), and address (es) to the Professor and Head, Department of Geography, University of Madras not later than 22.02.2003. The Participants will be informed of the acceptance of the abstract after reviewing.

Registration

All the participants are requested to register by sending duly filled Registration form along with the Registration fee by mode of Demand Draft drawn infavour of the Professor and Head, Department of Geography, payable at State Bank of India, Madras University Branch (Code 2234), Chennai 600 005 on or before 15.03.2003 along with the full paper.

The University and the Department University of Madras is one of the oldest universities in India and has been adorned with Five Star Status and Potential for Excellence for its merits by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of UGC. The Department of Geography is a National Centre for Advanced studies in GIS, Digital Image Processing and Spatial Data Management. It is supported by the Special Assistance Programme (SAP) of UGC and FIST Grant of the Department of Science and Technology. The Department has active collaboration with various National / International Organisations and NGO. The Department offers Postgraduate courses in Spatial Information Technology and Applied Geography and an industry oriented Postgraduate Diploma course in GIS Management as an evening programmme. Financial Support Limited financial support is available from the Seminar Organisers towards travel that would be awarded to selected participants based on the merits of their paper. Others are requested to make their own arrangements for funds for Travel and Accommodation.
