PAN-EUROPEAN
CONFERENCE 2004

THE HAGUE 9-11 SEPTEMBER

The venue for the 2004 Pan-European Conference organised by the ECPR Standing Group on International Relations will be The Hague in the Netherlands. The dates for the conference have been set as 9-11 September 2004.

The theme for the Conference will be 'Constructing World Order' - a theme we expect will be enhanced by its location in the city of i.a. the International Court of Justice, the Peace Palace, the International Criminal Court, and the Yugoslav Tribunal.

CALL FOR SECTION CHAIRS

The Steering Committee of the SGIR hereby issues a Call for Section Chairs for the 2004
Pan-European Conference.

The academic programme for the Conference will be organised in the tried and tested format of Sections and Panels. A section is a number of panels linked by a common theme. Section chairs organise the panels, select panel chairs, and take responsibility for the actual execution of their section's part of the Conference programme.

A section may consist of (at most) ten 90-minute panel sessions during the programme. The actual number of panels in each case is flexible, although each section should aim for
a minimum of three panels.

Each 90-minute panel should ideally comprise three papers plus a discussant and chair,
or two papers plus two discussants and chair.

Section Chairs are encouraged to seek participants from Central and Eastern Europe.

Those interested in being designated as a Section Chair are hereby asked to submit a

  • Name, position and institution of proposed Section Chair;

  • The same for any Co-Chair;

  • A short title of proposed Section;

  • A 250-word outline of the main aims of the section;
