The International Conference on Advanced Optoelectronic and Lasers (CAOL’2003) will be held in the Alushta, Crimea, Ukraine, from September 16 to September 20, 2003. CAOL’2003 will provide a forum for experts in wide areas of laser physics and optoelectronics. The conference is an evolution of the annual meeting “International Workshop on Laser and Fiber Optical Network Modelling”, which has been holding since 1999 in Kharkov and other international meetings, which was held in Kharkov.

Information on the previous international meetings in optoelectronics and lasers can be found in the journals IEEE/LEOS Newsletters: 4-1999, 4-2000, 4-2001 and IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine: 4&5-98, and 3-01. The conference has established itself as a true interface between the Western and the FSU laser and optoelectronics experts. Its characteristic feature is a stronger emphasis on the mathematical and physical aspects of research, together with detail technical analyses of the application problems. The technical program traditionally consists of invited lectures and regular contributed papers.

Realization of these meetings has confirmed our expectations and has shown the necessity of its annual realization and extensions of participant numbers. CAOL give a possibility to collect a lot of experts from FSU countries and neighboring countries of East and South Europe, Asia, and other with a relatively small travel and accommodation expenses.

Conference will provide with cooperation with IEEE/ LEOS, Regional IEEE Chapters, SPIE, OSA, EOS.

Venue and Location:

The conference will be held in southern Crimea, in the city Alushta. The climate there is subtropical Mediterranean. The average temperature in September ranges from +17 to +25 C. Owing to the Crimean mountains and nice warm water of the Black Sea Alushta and South Crimea is similar to French Riviera.

CAOL’2003 will be held in Alushta, in one of the popular Hotel complex “Blue Wave”, where all conference facilities are available. Alushta city is one of the best place for vacation in the South Crimea with the population of about 100 thousand people. It has numerous hotels and cultural objects. Transportation Connections: daily airfreight connection Simferopol with Kiev, capital of Ukraine. Kiev can be easily reached by many direct flights. The transportation between Simferopol and Alushta will be providing by the Organizing Committee.
