Those of us in the health insurance industry are well aware of the part that healthcare costs are playing in our endeavor to gain and retain market share. The lack of price elasticity has compelled leading health insurers such as Cigna Healthcare, Network Health Plan., and Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts, among others to expand their marketing strategies to include developing innovative products, optimize web communications, and incorporate modern approaches to customer relationship management.

The Institute for International Research is pleased to present Consumer Centric and Employer Based Marketing Strategies for the Health Insurance Industry where the mission is to provide health insurance companies with internal strategies to improve their marketing mix for current and new customers. These strategies are aimed at decreasing prices in the long run while ensuring that consumers receive the best possible care and quality.

On Day Two, the conference opens with Network Health Plan’s presentation on how to achieve a consumer centric focus to healthcare marketing strategies. The day continues with case studies on well-received products employed as marketing tools and an employer piloted program. The product concepts profiled in the case studies include consumer driven, tiered network, and disease management. Leading health insurers address the goals of these projects and the outcomes to date. Following the case studies is a panel discussion on overcoming marketing challenges with innovative new product designs. The panel is comprised of representatives from the health insurance industry, employer coalition groups, health insurance brokers, and provider groups to discuss other innovative ways to attract and retain customers through marketing.

Day Three begins with a presentation from Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts on maximizing service quality and member satisfaction to support sales and member retention followed by a discussion on how to educate consumers during open enrollment to increase consumer buy-in of products. The day proceeds with a presentation on expanding website communication to better manage consumer relationships and the final session of the day provides examples of how to optimize market channels to connect with employers and effectively sell new products.
