CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT: Conference on Illinois History, October 9-10, 2003, Springfield, Il. The Conference is accredited by the ISBE for CPDU. Featuring papers on Illinois topics including women, ethnicity, local studies, Chicago, immigration, religion, Civil War, Abraham Lincoln, and historic preservation. Teacher Workshops on Lewis & Clark, educational videos, writing research papers, teaching Illinois political history, and Confederate soldier memoriam project. In addition, James Loewen author of "Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your High School History Textbook Got Wrong" and "Lies Across America: What Our Historic Markers and Monuments Get Wrong" will present workshops on "Beyond the Textbook" and "Sundown Towns."
