The major focus of the conference is to discuss research in the areas of host-pathogen interaction resulting from BW agents, of novel targets for therapeutic intervention, and of possible prophylactic efforts. Further research examination may highlight findings from early stages, intermediate stages, and late stages of BW infection processes. Conference organizers are also interested in showcasing new candidate drug developments and combination treatments intended to increase the survival rate of infected people at different stages of these infections. Areas of promise may include new anti-bacterial and anti-viral substances, specific and non-specific immunomodulators, and toxin blockers and inhibitors.

The mission of the conference is to bring new knowledge to the field of biodefense from traditional medical, microbial, technological, and pharmaceutical knowledge bases, as well as to expand the use of biodefense products and substances into these areas for possible treatment of other emerging diseases, infections, and cancer. The conference will encourage the collaboration of scientific institutions and research and development companies with pharmaceutical companies to apply this knowledge in joint developmental projects.
Abstract submissions are being solicited for this conference, and may be selected for lectures or posters based on their relevance to the following categories:

-Immune system
-Host-pathogen interaction
-Pathogenesis of Infections Caused by BW Agents
-New virulence factors
-New targets for intervention and drug development
-Medical diagnostics
