“The Academic Teaching Conference has been, for many years, a major forum for learning and debate on child development and mental health,” says conference co-director Dr. Elizabeth Fideler.

Serving as general overviews of child and adolescent mental health research and practice, the lectures address the most recent findings concerning child mental health in relation to development and society, exploring topics such as early life experience, close relationships and resilience among young adults, developmentally appropriate interventions and immigrant children, mental health services within the schools, early childhood education and social, emotional, and cognitive development, child abuse and neglect, the child mental health care system and the promotion of child well being, inpatient child psychiatry, and computer-based interventions for physical and emotional illnesses. The diverse selection of speakers includes psychiatry and psychology specialists from Yale, Brown, Columbia, Vanderbilt, University of Zurich, University of Massachusetts Boston, and Harvard.
