Description

The course will focus on low Reynolds number, viscous flows with particular emphasis on applications related to miniaturized unmanned air vehicles. The lectures will cover both experimental and modeling techniques used to understand the transition mechanisms, which govern the evolution of the flow on thin and large leading edge radii airfoils and wings, on separated flows, and on the prediction and measurement of steady and unsteady aerodynamic loads and moments. Moving or flapping surfaces to generate appropriate lift, where one has to deal with unsteady flows and other complex phenomena including laminar separation bubbles, will also be considered.
