From April the 27th till 29th 2004, the Estoril Congress Centre, Lisbon, Portugal will host the 4th International SPICE Conference (www.spice2004.com), an annual conference that gathers together world experts in the software industry devoted to process assessment and continuous improvement of software processes (ISO/IEC 15504). The conference is hosted by Critical Software SA on behalf of the SPICE User Group.
The 4th International SPICE Conference will have speeches from world experts in the field including Linda Ibrahim - Federal Aviation Administration, USA; Dave Kitson - Software Engineering Institute; USA, Alec Dorling – project manager of SPICE project, UK/Sweden; Terry Rout - ISO/IEC 15504 standards editor, Griffith University, Australia; and Ann Cass –Synspace, Switzerland, among many others. The official program will be announced in February 2004.
SPICE started as an international initiative, with the objective of developing an International Standard for Software Process Assessment and encouraging take-up and use. The International Standard has been developed under the auspices of the ISO/IEC International Committee on Systems and Software Engineering Standards. The first version of the standard was published in 1998 and is currently being revised and being re-published during 2003/2004.
