The Conference Theme is key to the questions and issues facing professionals, families, and communities in our multi-cultural, diverse society in transition as we deal with the overwhelming stresses of day-to-day living, combined with the added burdens of AIDS, poverty and violence.
Our main Themes:
Theme 1: Ways of working with children, youth, families and communities.
Through the use of community development, education, family and youth support, we are seeking ways of helping our people and fellow countrymen to find African paths to African communication and fellowship.
Theme 2: Our culture in the face of AIDS, poverty, and violence?
In the face of AIDS, poverty, and violence, what ways do we find to foster, nuture and preserve our myriad African cultures?
Theme 3: Potential and opportunities to resolve issues through people, places, processes, programs, and policies.
We are developing and managing a diverse human resource base: one that must include equal employment opportunity and affirmative action, that works within legislative and regulatory guidance against cultural assumptions and that applies practical outcomes to African problems.
Theme 4: Soul, Spirituality and healing.
Through the strength of our own resources, responding to global human realities by development of multi-cultural policies, spiritual and healing practices; by effectively responding to rascism, violence, AIDS, together we can seek their causes and remedies.
