centres are complex realities, where past and recent built structures co-exist
and interact to form the framework for urban life. Rehabilitation of city
centres, enhancing the built heritage and creating new opportunities for
economic, social and cultural activity, is today a prominent issue for city
administrations around the world.
scope and impact of any planned city centre rehabilitation has to be properly
assessed beforehand, in order to achieve the best results for all interests and
values concerned. The rehabilitation of city centres is therefore highly
dependent on reliable information concerning metric and semantic aspects of the
current built environment. Collecting and managing the relevant data are known
to be major concerns in these processes.
developments in both laser technology and digital photogrametry provide faster
and less expensive ways of gathering the required information. On the other hand
the integration of computer vision and information technologies are providing
the means to handle the gathered data in new useful and manifold ways, namely
immersive virtual reality environments.
The workshop is
aimed at presenting and debating state of the art of vision techniques and
methodologies applied to the specific field of rehabilitation of city centres.
and cross-debate among researchers and developers and the users of these tools
will be encouraged.
Who should attend
The workshop is addressed
to academics, scientists, developers of software and hardware manufacturers
working in the field of vision techniques, as well as to specialists and
officials concerned with city management, urban rehabilitation and preservation
of the built heritage.
The scientific part of the
workshop is divided in six paper discussion and two poster sessions. Sessions in
the afternoon of the third day are aimed to non-specialists and officials
