Description
The Eighth Annual Oxford University Graduate Philosophy Conference is currently seeking papers in all areas of philosophy from graduate students.
The conference takes place November 6-7, 2004.
Oxford’s graduate philosophy conferences are unique in that faculty members lead the replies to student papers, thus providing student participants with the opportunity to engage in direct discussion of their papers with leading philosophers.
In previous years, the conference has attracted students and keynote speakers from around the world. This year, we are very pleased to welcome Professors Susan Wolf and Crispin Wright who have kindly agreed to be our keynote speakers. We look forward to another enjoyable weekend of philosophical discussion.

Call for Papers
Submission Deadline
The deadline for receipt of submissions is August 1, 2004.
Conference Format
Student speakers will have approximately 45 minutes in which to deliver their papers. Addresses will be followed by a short discussion period opened with a reply led by an Oxford University faculty member.
Guidelines
Papers can discuss any philosophical topic or thinker and should be tailored to suit a conference setting. Selection of papers will be based on clarity, depth and originality.
Papers should be no longer than 5,000 words (excluding bibliographical references, including footnotes) and should be submitted together with a short abstract of approximately 200 words (not included in word count).
Submissions will be subject to blind review, so no personal details should appear in the body of the paper. Papers should be submitted with a cover page which includes the following information: title of the paper, name, university affiliation, contact information (e-mail address, conventional address and telephone number), word count. The title and abstract should appear both on the cover page and on the first page of the body of the paper.
Electronic submissions are preferred (Microsoft Word format or RTF) and can be sent to: gradconf@philosophy.ox.ac.uk or, by hard copy, to: Oxford Graduate Philosophy Conference, Faculty of Philosophy,
10 Merton St., Oxford, U.K., OX1 4JJ.
Please note that we cannot accept more than one submission per student.
Receipt of submissions will be confirmed by e-mail and the outcome of the selection process will be communicated to all submitting students as soon as possible.
