As the capital of the Austrian region of Tyrol, Innsbruck is the only major city in the European Alps and is considered one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. As both a recreational and historical center, Innsbruck offers an unrivalled combination of culture, history, and natural beauty. Twice host to the Olympic Winter Games, Innsbruck’s twenty-five Resort Villages blend in perfectly with the alpine environment and offer world-class facilities for skiing, tobogganing, and snowboarding, as well as countless summer recreation activities, amidst breathtaking landscapes. Although Innsbruck is a sophisticated urban center, it has also maintained its historical flavour and boasts an abundance of architectural and art treasures. The city also hosts a multitude of international cultural and musical events throughout the year.

Innsbruck, with its unique blend of historical, intellectual, and recreational pursuits, offers something for every visitor. AIA 2005 will be held at the world-famous Congress Innsbruck, located in the heart of the city, near the historical quarter. This facility won the prestigious 'Best Conference Center in Europe Award’ in 2000.
