Vehicle protection has long been a priority to armies, but more recently, due to a change in the scope and type of land conflicts, a much greater emphasis has been placed on this requirement. Vehicles are coming under threat from increasingly sophisticated weaponry which is able to exceed the ability of traditional armour. Therefore, armies are looking to improve the survivability of combat vehicles by applying both active and passive survivability enhancement measures.

This conference will address the issue of how to best improve the survivability of existing vehicles as well as revealing new design concepts on how best to combat these emerging threats. Government policies on vehicle survivability will be examined, demonstrating the new emphasis now being placed on vulnerability reduction and personnel safety. Identifying the specific threats through operational perspectives, the conference will then analyse the current ability of vehicles to counter this threat on the battlefield.
