An international conference co-organised by The Singapore Institute of Biology; Department of Biological Sciences (National University of Singapore); and the National Institute of Education (Nanyang Technological University). The conference aims to provide a platform for interaction and exchange of the latest ideas and techniques in the business of biology—from the fields of education, to research, and to applied biology—especially with respect to Asia.

We have three sub-themes for our conference: “Biodiversity, Ecology and Conservation in Asia”; “Biotechnology in Asia”; and “Biology Education in Asia”.

We are privileged and honoured to have Dr Jane Goodall, the world-renowned primatologist, as our keynote speaker. Our other plenary speakers include:

“Biodiversity, Ecology and Conservation in Asia”: Dr Stuart Davies (Harvard University, USA), Dr Lucius Eldredge (Bishop Museum, Hawaii, USA), Dr Patrick Grootaert (Royal Belgium Institute of Natural Sciences, Belgium), Dr Peter Ng (National University of Singapore), Dr Pilai Poonswad (Mahidol University, Thailand), Dr Jan Slikkerveer (Leiden University, The Netherlands);

“Biotechnology in Asia”: Dr Charles Arntzen (Arizona State University, USA), Dr Michael Horn (Prodigene, Inc.), Dr Maurice Moloney (Sembiosys Genetics, Inc.);

and “Biology Education in Asia”: Mr David Micklos (DNA Learning Center, Cold Springs Harbour Lab, USA), Prof Leo Tan (National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University).
