Alexander's Gas & Oil Connections

Global Peak Oil Gathering - 19, 20 and 21 October 2004

Alexander's Gas & Oil Connections ( is planning a:Global Peak Oil Gathering 19, 20 and 21 October in Hotel Mercure, Koblenz-Lahnstein, Germany.

As the discussion about the possible 'end of oil' intensifies, the data and the sources are being questioned.
Whilst the demand for energy is increasing, the supply for the future seems questionable.
And when the resources turn out to be plentiful, or we use them without care, we generate another problem: the climate.
As this is not a local issue, talking about it seems only to make sense in a global context.

Considering all this, Alexander's Gas & Oil Connections thought it was time for a Global Peak Oil Gathering.
We are calling for all those interested or involved in medium- and long-term oil, gas, and energy matters to join us in this Gathering and Think Tank, and participate in the important discussions.
In the three days of the Gathering delegates will get updated on future demand, global reserves, and planned and expected supply.
Participants will be informed about the influence of these factors on the price of oil and on possible future climatological side-effects.
A whole afternoon will be taken to consider what all this means, and possibly to propose what needs to be done.

The roles of renewable energy and demand reduction will also be discussed, along with the latest information about the gigantic investments necessary. This Gathering and Think-Tank will update participants on current and future energy developments, and will be a platform for new perceptions about energy development by inviting all participants to share their individual intelligence and know-how with the collective intelligence of the Gathering.
This Gathering will also enhance networking, for which there is a comprehensive extended programme.
