Coastal/Ocean science and engineering education is a growing field that ultimately aims to improve the quality of our fragile marine environment. In order to assist in the development of improved educational strategies and techniques this inaugural International conference, to be held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, will provide an open forum for the presentations and discussion all aspects of coastal/ocean science and engineering education. The conference will consist of oral presentation, discussion groups and mini-workshops to help advance educational approaches.

An important part of this conference is a focus on the presentation and discussion of actual teaching experiences so that participants can see what others have found to work or not work. The conference is especially open to all lecturers and teachers who have taught coastal/ocean science and engineering.

Overall, the aims of the conference are to improve coastal/ocean education and to encourage collaboration.
