Description

Telecom industry in Turkey
With the liberalization on January 1st, 2004, a state-owned company, Turk Telekom’s monopole ended. The Telecommunications Authority (established by law in 2000) gave type-C LDTS licenses to many new tacos. There are three types of licenses (A, B and C), and each of them define a different operating area. According the researches on the telecom market in Turkey, the market is about 2 billion dollars and will double each year in the mid-term with liberalization and privatization. Turkey also started to use its geo-political advantage and become a bridge over Europe, Middle East and old soviet republics. Along with the liberalisation, and the gradual opening steps of telecom market, severe business competition arose among the telecom carriers. Marketing strategies as the network optimizing, service quality enhancing, new and creative telecom business have been adopted by carriers to survive for a better market.
