14th European Colloquium on Theoretical and Quantitative Geography
September 9-13, 2005
We are pleased to announce, and to invite you to participate in, the 14th European Colloquium on Theoretical and Quantitative Geography, which will be held in Tomar (Portugal) from Friday 9th September to Tuesday 13th September 2005.
The Local Organising Committee is co-chaired by Professors José António Tenedório and Rui Pedro Julião and composed by researchers from the e-Geo – Geography and Regional Planning Research Centre (http://e-geo.fcsh.unl.pt/) of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
The Colloquium takes place every two years. Recent Colloquia have been in Stockholm (1991), Budapest (1993), Spa (1995), Rostock (1997), Durham (1999), St Valery-en-Caux (2001) and Lucca (2003).
Tomar is small town known for its historical role and has a very rich heritage. Its urban structure is pleasant and the surroundings are full of historical, religious and natural points of interest; notably a world heritage monastery.
The distance from Lisbon is about 100 km and ground transportation connections a very good. By car it takes about 1 hour on the motorway. By train it takes about 2 hours with direct connections to Lisbon every hour.
The Hotel dos Templários is located in the centre of Tomar in a very pleasant garden near the River Nabão which flows through the town. It is a **** Hotel with full facilities (http://www.hoteldostemplarios.pt/)
The Colloquium is concerned with recent advances in the areas of theoretical and quantitative geography. Contributions on all Geography-related research themes will be considered; however the programme committee especially requests high quality submissions on the following colloquium themes:

SUBMISSIONS for PAPERS and POSTERS
Short abstracts (500 to 1000 words) should describe the nature and relevance of the problem, the research undertaken, and concrete results if any. Reviews, tutorials and conference reports are not encouraged, but may be admitted if the quality is high and the topic is especially strategic.
Abstracts for Papers and Posters should have keywords and all authors’ contacts.
Too general abstracts and those of poor quality will be sent for poster presentation or rejected.

Reception of abstracts: before 22 April 2005
Acceptance/Conditional acceptance/Rejection notification: 29 April 2005
Early Registration fee: 31 May 2005 (after this date there is a 20% surcharge)
Full Delegate Registration: 30 June 2005 (after this date we cannot guarantee accommodation and meals)
Reception of full papers: before 15 July 2005 (after this date we cannot guarantee the inclusion in the proceedings)
The organization reserves the right to reject full papers for publication if format guidelines are not adhered to (the programme committee will not re-edit papers), and/or the registration fee has not been paid by 30 June 2005.
