It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the 1st East Asian International Conference on Human and Social Development (EAIC-HSD 2005), which will be held in the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 12th to 14th November 2005. This conference is organized by the Faculty of Human and Social Development, Universiti Utara Malaysia. The theme for this first conference will be: “Emerging Issues in Human and Social Development.” Using this theme, we hope to invite discussions on how East Asian countries address pertinent issues on human and social development in the light of the present day challenges.
We organize this conference according to imperative recent sub-themes, namely disaster issues, workforce diversity, immigrant workers, retirement issues, health issues, quality of work life and digital divide issues. Many of these areas are being discussed at a multitude of conferences, meetings and even late evening gatherings at coffee shops and stalls. However, putting together all these sub- themes under one roof will present us with the opportunity to appreciate all of it in its totality.
We eagerly and sincerely hope you will join us in this journey to explore and further refine our understanding of human and social development for the East Asia Region. Please visit our website at http://www.uum.edu.my/fpsm/eaic
Hope to see you at the conference either as a presenter or participant.
