Douglas C. Smith will outline the differences between “intuitive grievers” and “instrumental grievers” and offer practical tools for dealing with these different styles. He will review and offer an instrumental and intuitive interpretation of the tasks of grieving. This will be an inspirational, motivational, and useful day for those wanting to increase their knowledge and skills in this area.

You will learn:
- To describe ways to start conversations with people who are experiencing loss and grief, and to start a counselling relationship with them
- To identify ways of assessing a person’s own grieving style and language, as well as assessing a person’s own sychosocial and psycho-spiritual grief resources
- To discuss the differences between “intuitive grievers” (feeling-oriented people) and “instrumental grievers” (cognitive/action-oriented people)
- To identify tools and techniques that address gender similarities and differences in the grieving process
- To explain tools and techniques for addressing psychosocial and psycho-spiritual needs of people experiencing loss and grief
