Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to announce that the XV. IFTA World Congress will be held on Oct. 4-7. 2006. in Reykjavik Iceland. Along with our Icelandic hosts the FFF, we invite you to join us for a rich program during Iceland’s season of Northern Lights.

IFTA's objective are to advance family therapy, promote research and education and to foster international cooperation and interchange of ideas on family therapy.
Founded in 1987 by Florence Kaslow IFTA provides its members, now from 45 countries, with a venue for educational opportunities and networking.
The FFF is an organizational member of IFTA and a member of the NFTO chamber of EFTA. It is in close alliance with the neighboring Nordic Associations of Family Therapy and held the Nordic Conference on Family Therapy in 2002.

Together, IFTA and the FFF promise to make your conference experience an exceptional one and your stay in Iceland unforgettable. In conjunction with the conference, FFF member , director of the AFS in Iceland, will arrange home stay for people who need or want to stay with Icelandic families. You may contact her at RosaBjorg.Thorsteinsdottir@afs.org The FFF has also offered to assist participants who want to bring their children and families to Iceland during the congress. Kjell Hymer will plan a program designed for children and families. You may contact him at kjell@kopavogur.is

The Reykjavik Congress is IFTA’s XV. World Congress and thus a very special one. After many years of sharing our expertise as clinicians, managers, researchers, and academics with family therapists from around the world we felt it high time to step out of our comfort zone and reflect in order to prepare ourselves and our profession to meet the challenges of the future. With our conference theme “Reflection, Resilience and Hope" we hope to provide you with that opportunity.

Reykjavik is the world’s northernmost capital, with the qualities of a modern society complemented by its close proximity to nature; it is indeed a great place to visit and a wonderful venue to recharge our batteries, personal and professional.

One of the things that is special about IFTA is it's breathtaking diversity, the Reykjavik Conference will be an example of that. It is our sincere hope that you will join us.
