Description
Increasing developmental activities in our country today mainly target freshwater resources, both in quantity and quality. The impacts on aquatic ecosystem health and its degradation emerge as main concerns of environmental management today.
The ever growing population multiplies water uses as well as diverts water elsewhere that has caused drastic changes in the morphology of the water bodies, their quality and biodiversity. There is a growing recognition that loss of water bodies or their ecology is not in the interests of development of our country
Recent research efforts on many facets of the study of freshwater habitats call for a focused discussion. The need of the hour is to choose right direction for future aquatic biological research on our shrinking water bodies.
THEMES OF THE CONFERENCE
The broad areas of discussion include
• Aquatic biodiversity and conservation
• Limno-chemistry including water quality
• Aquaculture and fisheries
• Wetlands ecology
• Aquatic Toxicology
• Eco restoration
• Habitat protection and Management
