Description Understanding the relationship between chemical structure and specific physical properties is crucial for ultimately designing advanced materials and hence meeting the scientific and technological challenges of the 21st century. This symposium will address structure-property relationships in magnetic, optical, electronic and functional materials. Solid-state chemists and physicists in the forefront of exploring these relationships will present their work.

This symposium will take place during June 27-30, 2006 at Institut de Chimie de la Matière Condensée de Bordeaux (ICMCB), Pessac, France. All participants are expected to either give short oral presentations or present posters. Abstracts are due on March 1, 2006. For details, contact the symposium organizers and/or consult the web site http://www.icmcb-bordeaux.cnrs.fr/sp-ssm/ .

To promote lively discussions among the participants, the number of participants will be limited to 100, and the symposium will consist of a single session of invited and contributed oral presentations (30 and 15 min duration, respectively, not including discussion) and poster presentations. The contributed oral presentations will be chosen from the abstracts submitted.
