European eID Card Conference
Venue: DLA Piper Rudnick
|Event Date/Time: Feb 22, 2006||End Date/Time: Feb 23, 2006|
E-ID cards are not just a means of improving cross-border security but will also facilitate a range of e-enabled public services such as healthcare, and promise to benefit organisations by allowing them access to customer information via one data source.
But e-ID card schemes are not without their problems. Governments and businesses will have to contend with the enormous scale and cost of implementation as well as having the applications, systems and procedures in place to support them.
The European e-ID Card Conference will provide you with a unique opportunity to listen to the latest experiences of Governments from Member States who are implementing these schemes. It is also a chance to discuss policy and applications, and the technical and interoperability issues faced and their possible solutions.
Dr Reinhard Posch, will be giving the opening keynote speech on ‘The Future of European Electronic Identification’, on the morning of the 22 February. He has held many high-profile positions, including consultant on security and cryptography for the Austrian Government’s Federal Chancellery and Ministry of Interior Affairs, as well as being involved with the EU-Directive on electronic signatures, and will provide a compelling and insightful introduction to the event.
