Description The Department of Geography, University of Malaya, is organising an international conference in celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the University of Malaya. The conference will debate issues, problems and prospects in the Southeast Asian region (individual countries, subregions, or the region as a whole) from the geographical perspective. Papers are invited on the following topics: urban/social issues; transportation; environment; biotechnology; agriculture and rural issues; population and migration; economy/industrialisation; tourism; and politics.

Who should attend: academics, policy makers, those in the government service, teachers, postgraduate researchers, and students.
Additional Information REGISTRATION FEES (in Ringgit Malaysia currency)
Fees will cover the cost of conference facilities, lunch, one official dinner, refreshments and related materials.

• Ordinary participant who registers and pays by 1st July 2005: RM 250.00
• Ordinary participant who registers and pays after 1st July 2005: RM 300.00
• Teachers and postgraduate students: RM 100.00
• Undergraduate students (excluding the official dinner):RM 50.00

Payment by crossed cheque/bank draft should be made out to: Bendahari Universiti Malaya.


Venue: The Eastin Hotel Petaling Jaya is a 4-star business class hotel of international standard that provides a convivial meeting point between Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur, with easy access to nearby attractions such as Bangsar, the MidValley Shopping Centre, and the National Science Centre.
