On Thursday 23 and Friday 24 June 2005, Erasmus University Rotterdam will host a conference entitled Justice and Home Affairs Cooperation in the European Union. Delegates will focus on the ‘The Hague Programme’, the European Union’s programme on freedom, security and law for 2005-2010.

The conference coordinators will be Professor Jaap de Zwaan and Dr Flora Goudappel, both attached to the European Law Section of the Faculty of Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Leading national and international keynote speakers from the spheres of politics, policy practice and research will give their views on the The Hague Programme. The conference will be formally opened by the Netherlands Minister of Justice, Piet Hein Donner, and the European Justice Commissioner, Franco Frattini.

On the second day of the conference, participants will be able to choose between the following workshop themes: Border and visa policy, Asylum and immigration policy, Police cooperation and Criminal law cooperation. The workshops will end with a panel discussion. The final element of the conference will be devoted to the future of the The Hague Programme.
