| Description |
BANNARI AMMAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (BIT)
The BIT, Sathyamangalam established in the year 1996 is the fruit of dedicated efforts of Sri S V Bala Subramaniam, Chairman, Bannari Amman Group to establish a Centre of Excellence in Engineering & Technology. The BIT currently offers 10 UG and 7 PG programs in Engineering, Technology and Science. The Institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is affiliated to Anna University. The Institute has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi and ISO 9001:2000 certified by TUV. The Institute has received research grants from funding agencies like DST, DRDO, etc. The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers one UG program (B.E. Mechanical Engineering) and two PG programs (M.E. Engineering Design and M.E. Computer Integrated Manufacturing). The Department has organized a National Conference on Advances in Engineering Design in April 2005 and more than 18 short-term training programmes in association with organizations like AICTE, ISTE, MoEF, TEDA, etc.
NORTH CAROLINA A&T STATE UNIVERSITY (NC A&T SU)
Since its inception in 1891, NC A&T SU has a rich tradition of leadership and achievement. The University offers 85 undergraduate programs, 45 Masters programs and five Ph.D. programs. The College of Engineering is one of the seven colleges and schools in the University. It has five academic Departments that offer eight undergraduate, nine graduate degree programs and three Ph.D. degrees-in Mechanical, Electrical and Industrial Engineering. The programs (agricultural, architectural, chemical, civil, computer science, electrical, industrial and mechanical) are fully accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The college has established research centers with funding from the NSF, DoD, NASA and others. The Center for Advanced Materials and Smart Structures (CAMSS) is an educational and research resource of excellence in the field of smart, multifunctional and other advanced materials. This is being achieved through the collaboration of academe, government agencies and private industries in developing basic and applied research programs and commercially relevant technological innovations with a focus on student participation and learning.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The major challenge for the today’s industries is to satisfy the needs of the customers by providing new and innovative products in the global market. This requires application of the knowledge of latest tools and technology in design, manufacture, material processing and related areas. It is necessary for the personnel from the Industry, R&D organizations, and Academic Institutions to meet and exchange the advances in the respective fields.
The conference acts as a forum to bring the academicians, researchers and practising engineers together for sharing their knowledge and experience in the following areas.
1. Design, process, and application of new materials for engineering problems
2. Design and manufacture of products / components economically with global quality standards
3. Modernization of manufacturing processes and systems which will meet the requirements of dynamic environments
The technical program includes invited keynote addresses, plenary sessions, and presentation sessions.
