| Description |
The science of protein expression has utilized high throughput methodologies to provide small quantities of many proteins for characterization and analysis. Once specific proteins are selected for development there are numerous issues to be addressed related to production scale-up and optimization. Some of the tools used for protein expression have been slow to filter downstream to the process development/scale-up portion of the pipeline. If drug development groups are to continue to supply the amounts of protein necessary for animal and human trials, these issues need to be resolved. This highly focused meeting will discuss ways to apply the upstream lessons, methods and technologies to large-scale protein production.
