Description Get ready to Focus on Learning!

Teaching For a Change (TFC) prides itself on a 15-year history of focusing on learning. Part of the richness of TFC is that faculty from many disciplines come together to share their experience with a variety of practical approaches that honor the differences in learners. This spectrum of philosophies and techniques compliment each other as they Focus on Learning.

Topics that have made past conferences such a success include:

Great Teaching

Active and Cooperative Learning

Model Faculty Development Ideas and Programs

Appreciative Inquiry

Learning Styles

Multiple Intelligences

Teacher Formation / The Courage to Teach

Metaphors in Teaching

Teaching Circles

Learning Games

Leadership

Conversations and Reflective Teaching

True Colors

Music, Drama, and Poetry in Learning

Brain Gym® and Movement

Transfer of Learning

Deep Learning

Learning Communities

Organizational Development

Every year, our presenters bring innovative and engaging topics that we can take back to enrich our classrooms. Because of this variety, TFC appeals to both new and experienced faculty and faculty developers. Using the McHargue CASE method (Copy And Steal Everything), each participant takes home a number of new techniques to implement in their own classrooms and to share with other faculty. We can’t wait to see what this year offers us!

This year we’ve moving the conference from Colorado to Park City, which combines a spectacular mountain setting reminiscent of Steamboat Springs or Vail with a convenient 40-minute shuttle trip from the Salt Lake City airport, and it’s less expensive.

Conference sessions will be held in the Canyons Grand Summit Hotel, built by the same people as the Steamboat Grand (where we held our conference for three years). Lodging will be available both in the Canyons Grand and in the adjacent Sundial Lodge. Be assured that you’ll be delighted with the quality, appearance, and amenities of either location. More good news: accommodations begin at $79/night in the Sundial Lodge, and both locations offer a variety of room types. Click here for specific lodging information.

This is a beautiful resort area offering all the amenities you can imagine, including a gondola right out the back door of the hotel. This would be a perfect time to plan a day or two before or after the conference to take advantage of the recreation that is available such as golf, fly fishing, hot air ballooning, white water rafting, horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking.
Additional Information Keynote by Margaret Wheatley: Finding Our Way by Learning Together. Proposal deadline November 1, 2005. See website for registration fees and discounts.
