Dear friends and colleagues,
Folk Arts State Higher School (Institute), a unique establishment of university level for traditional arts in the heart of St Petersburg, Russia, sends out invitations to take part in the 11th International Conference " The Traditional applied Arts and Handicrafts & Education: History, modern Conditions, Prospects "
Informational support of UNESCO Moscow Office.
The discussion will be focused on the evolution of the traditional arts and crafts (Decorative Embroidery, Lacehandmaking, Painting on Silk (batik), Painting on Metal, Painting on Papier-mache, Carving, Jewelry, Viewing etc.), as well as the professional education of artists and experts in national arts and crafts.
Panels:
• Cultural, art and craft’s heritage and national traditions in education.
• Cultural diversity in traditional applied arts.
• Traditional applied arts as a method for the aesthetic education of youth.
• Professional education system in traditional applied arts.
• Ethnic traditions and education in the age of globalization.
The master-classes on traditional arts and crafts and the exhibition of students’ works will be arranged.
The working language — Russian (translation — under the arrangement).
Foreign participants are welcomed to send papers in English, German and French.
Travel and accommodation at a hotel are to be paid by the participants.
Deadline for papers: October, 31, 2005 (max. 5-6 pages, Word, font Times New Roman).
