Description Frequent requests to access information from their fellow persons with disabilities intending to tour Kenya and East Africa in general, have prompted the Kenya Disabled Development Society (KDDS) to host a conference on Accessible Tourism. The Ministry of Tourism is co-hosting the conference
The International Conference on Accessible Tourism wishes to inform the stakeholders in the Tourism industry that this market is still untapped and has enormous economic impact. Tourism should be for all or inclusive and barrier free. In North America and Europe the demand for accessible travel for persons with disabilities is increasing with the tourism industry working extremely hard the world over to meet the market of more than 100 million persons with disabilities. The disabled tourists require access to information to make informed choices and avoid embarrassment during their vacation of a lifetime.
ICATO will be held at Kenyatta International Conference Center, Plenary Hall as from 24th - 26th May 2006. The event will bring together 1000 disabled persons and stakeholders of the tourism sector.
Everyone has a right to access public places, and the disabled are no exception. Moreover, they constitute an as-yet untapped market for African countries already reliant on tourism and the service sector for a significant percentage of their foreign exchange earnings.
Additional Information Registration Fee: International Delegates - USD 350

East Africa Delegates - USD 200

Exhibition Fee: Stand Booths 4m x 4m(16square meters) @ 35 per square meter.
