Description The annual IETAC-ICETA meeting is of interest to those involved in teaching electronics at the technician, technology or applied degree level.
The meeting is in two parts:
1)The International Electronic Technician Articulation Committee IETAC, is made up of colleges that have signed the memorandum of understanding to use the Common Core competencies. The objective of the Electronics Common Core document is to provide a standard for basic electronics training providing instructors with a set of competencies that their students are to have mastered upon successful completion of the program. The document provides instructors with a means of comparing the skills that the student should have acquired, either at their own institution or at any other institution. Since the instructors were teaching to a common set of competencies, students from their own or any other institution that used the document, would have roughly similar skills and knowledge of electronics theory and practice upon completion of the basic program. The student would then have the skills to succeed in the speciality programs offered by the signature colleges. The annual meeting provides a time for members to update the document and share experiences.
2)The International College Electronics Teachers Association ICETA is an informal organization of college electronics teachers, instructors, professors, administrators, educators, authors, publishers, and other interested persons. The purpose is to provide a forum wherein members can learn from one another, broaden the perspectives of their profession, share knowledge, methodology, techniques, and pedagogy, assess the health and future of the electronics education profession, and other activities deemed pertinent. The meeting will include panel discussions, workshops and vendor displays.
