Description Metal Events Ltd is holding its Aluminium Conference on February 12-15 2006 at the SAS Radisson Hotel, Bratislava, Slovakia.
Bratislava is the state capital of Slovakia, home to the Slovalco aluminium smelter. The city is right at the heart of Europe and as such is the ideal location from which to explore and focus on the future of Europe's aluminium industry within an international context. Bratislava is a beautiful old city, which sits alongside the Danube River. It is a short distance from the nearerst main airport hub of Vienna.

The past decade has seen the global face of the aluminium industry change dramatically. Where ten years ago the pressure was on North America's aluminium industry to rationalise as large swathes of it became uneconomic, a decade later and Western Europe is feeling the pressure. Environmental legislation, high raw material prices and steep energy costs have colluded against the European industry with producers looking at other parts of the world to develop profitable oeprations.

As demand for aluminium remains strong, however, new projects are being developed, but key to these developments are raw material supplies and investment. The focus also remains on developing new end-uses for aluminium, with growth in China and India boosting aluminium consumption and automative, electrical, construction and other sectors. Europe remains a key centre for the production of downstream aluminium products, with many new investments taking place within the new EU member states in eastern Europe.

This conference will look at:
The future of the European aluminium industry - where does it go from here?
The outlook for global aluminium and related markets
What are the latest technologies that are shaping the aluminium industry in terms of smelting and downstream developments?
Environmental legislation - what impact is it having?
Where is the demand coming from - expanding markets for aluminium products?
