The Seventh International Conference on Data Mining and Information Systems is the result of bringing together two successful conferences on Data Mining and Management Information Systems. These established meetings have been organised by Wessex Institute of Technology since 1999 in collaboration with different Institutions from around the world.

The Data Mining (DM) part of the conference includes Text Mining and Business Applications. This is a field of active current research and development, which can yield substantial knowledge from data gathered from a wide range of applications. Many Institutions have derived considerable benefits from these applications and are now applying the methodology to increasing effect.

Management Information Systems (MIS) have found applications in many areas, including environmental conservation, economic planning, resource integration, cartography, urban planning, risk assessment, pollution control and transport management systems. The conference will reflect on ways in which this technology plays an active role in linking economic development and environmental conservation planning. The meeting will also focus on the growing use of MIS in various fields of application, in particular, the need to integrate different systems, including GIS and Remote Sensing.

The meeting provides an international forum for researchers and applications developers from many different areas to share state-of-the-art research results and practical development experiences.
