| Description |
Over the past a few years, there has been an explosive growth of interest in both fundamental research and industrial
applications of Transparent Conductive Oxides (TCOs). This unique class of fascinating materials is entering a variety of
cutting-edge applications, such as, solar cells, gas sensors, organic light-emitting diodes, liquid crystal and high
definition displays, electrochromic and smart windows, as well as architectural coatings. As evident from the tremendous
worldwide research activities that range from fundamental physics to materials fabrication and TCO-based device
development, the international TCO research community has decided to start an initiative by organizing the 1st
International Symposium on Transparent Conducting Oxides. The historic and beautiful island of Crete in Greece was
selected as the site for this very first symposium dedicated to TCO research. One of the largest scientific research
centers of Greece, IESL - FORTH located at Heraklion, Crete, will be the proud host of the symposium.
