This organization believes that levels of participants will be find this a venue to network, examine the latest technology and services offered by GIS companies in Türkiye and gain insight through courses, presentations and panel discussions.
The topic of this conference’s panel discussion, under the slogan of “Understanding the Past, Living up to Date and Planning the Future”, will be “The Future of GIS Technologies and Market in the World.” Eminent academicians and managers of GIS companies will discuss how GIS technology and its applications will change in the future. Presentations of papers and posters will provide the participants with an unmatched chance to see the new uses of GIS in Türkiye and the world.
Another important part of the 4th GIS Days is the Vendor Exposition. It will be open not only to companies that develop GIS software, but also to others that conduct business with maps, computers and space. This will enable participants to find out about companies and institutions that make best use of GIS software on the one hand, and to make business connections on the other.
The rest of the event consists of short-courses” (e.g., “GIS for Teachers”) and a project competition (“GIS Project Competition.”.) GIS for Teachers will contain sample lessons that are coordinated with the geography curricula in high schools. In the GIS Project Competition, GIS projects will be evaluated and awarded in two categories- high school and professional .
GIS Days is growing with every conference. For examples, approximately 500 people 118 of whom were academicians from both state and private universities, researchers, civil servants, private company employees, instructors and university students attended the 3rd GIS Days on October 6-9, 2004. In the same organization more than 100 participants benefited from GIS and Remote Sensing courses, and a selection of 67 papers presented in 14 sessions were published in conference proceedings and on the conference’s web site.
In GIS 2006, the conference proceedings will again be published in full text. A new feature will be the selection of a limited number of papers to be published in English in the premier volume of the “International Journal of Spatial Technologies.”, a new refereed journal to be published by Fatih University.
The biggest contribution will come from you. Your knowledge and expertise, at whatever level, will greatly contribute to the success of the upcoming GIS Days 2006. The Geography Department is pleased to serve the GIS community in Türkiye and worldwide through this upcoming conference.
