With a focus on the new Children Act (2004), themes for the day will include:

Social inclusion
Children's rights
Safeguarding children from sexual abuse

The workshops we have organised will be facilitated by academics and practitioners. Michael Murphy, Community, Health Sciences & Social Care Salford University will be exploring interprofessional learning and working; June Dickens and Adrian Spanswick, Nurse Consultants, will facilitate a workshop
focussing on the skills and competencies necessary for interprofessional working in child protection. Steve Lowe, Development Manager, Children's Rights Officers will concentrate on Children's Rights. A workshop on protection against sexual abuse will be led by Janet Folds. Finally, a session will be facilitated by Executive Director of a Children's Mental Health Centre in London, Ontario. His field of expertise is treatment approaches based on neurodevelopmental/attachment principles for children who are seriously
emotionally disturbed.
