Defense logistics is at the heart of all military operations, from supplying the troops with everything from weapons to food items, logistics is an essential tool for the survivability of the forces. In a changing military landscape where military are transforming the way they fight and what their operational needs will be, the need to become more efficient and effective in the way that operations are supported have lead nations to transform the way that material readiness and logistics support is delivered.

As part of the move towards defense transformation, the planning and management of the details of the movement and maintenance of joint forces is key to the success and flow of the operation. Effective logistics support ensures that the nation’s military services and several civilian agencies are provided with the critical resources they need to successfully accomplish worldwide missions. Military readiness, balanced with affordable costs has never been more critical; Defense Logistics Support will pay attention to the efforts underway to develop new strategies that will enhance readiness and the technological tools and strategies available to effectively track and manage one’s assets. With such a huge task, this forum will provide logisticians with the tools needed to successfully implement transformational initiatives.

This conference will seek to focus on the efforts to explore solutions to this great challenge of increasing operational effectiveness and supporting the warfighter at home and abroad because to improve any battlefield outcome it is necessary to equally improve logistics operations, as this is the foundation upon which every mission rests. Focus will be placed on the importance of support and maintenance concepts and technologies and total life cycle system management.
