The 5th Annual Hawaii International Conference on Arts and Humanities will be held from January 12 (Friday) to January 15 (Monday), 2007 at the Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii. The conference will provide many opportunities for academicians and professionals from arts and humanities related fields to interact with members inside and outside their own particular disciplines. Cross-disciplinary submissions with other fields are welcome. Performing artists (live dance, theater, and music) interested in displaying their talents will be accommodated whenever possible.

The Hawaii International Conference on Arts and Humanities encourages the following types of papers/abstracts/submissions for any of the listed areas:

Research Papers - Completed papers.
Abstracts - Abstracts of completed or proposed research.
Student Papers - Research by students.
Work-in-Progress Reports or Proposals for future projects.
Reports on issues related to teaching.

Submitting a Proposal:

1. Create a title page for your submission. The title page should include:

2. Email your abstract and/or paper, along with a title page, to humanities@hichumanities.org. Receipt of submissions will be acknowledged via email within 48 hours.

Please note that there is a limit of two contributed submissions per lead author.

Dress for the Meeting Business, Casual, or Aloha attire. Format of Presentations: Paper sessions will consist of three to four presentations in a 90 minute session. The session will be divided equally between the presenters. Workshop presenters will be given the full 90 minute session. Panel sessions will last 90 minutes and it is the presenters’ choice how that time is split between panelists. Poster sessions will last 90 minutes and consist of a large group of presenters. Poster sessions allow attendees to speak with the presenters on a one-to-one basis. If you are scheduled for a poster session, the following supplies will be provided to present your research on: Easel Tri-fold display board (48 x 36 inches) Markers Push pins Tape Round table Chairs Performances will be accommodated whenever possible. Please email humanities@hichumanities.org with your performance requirements. Equipment that will be provided by the conference and setup in all presentation rooms: (excluding poster sessions): Laptop Computer (Please see notes below regarding the laptops)*** LCD Data Projector (with screen) VCR/DVD Combination Player (also plays audio CD’s) Overhead Transparency Projector (must provide own transparencies) *** The laptops will accept CD-ROMs, DVD’s, and USB “Flash” drives. However, they ARE NOT equipped with floppy disk drives. If you have your presentation on a floppy disk, please visit the registration desk and we will transfer the files onto a CD-ROM or USB Flash Drive for you. Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel are installed on each laptop for your convenience. We will not be able to install any special software that your presentation may require. However, if you brought your own laptop, you may use it instead of the one that is provided. Limited equipment available on a sign-out basis: Slide Projectors (These may be reserved at the registration desk).
