Description

Egypt Invest 2006

4th International Investment & Trade Conference
Intercontinental, CityStars, Cairo, Egypt.

6th & 7th December 2006

“Implementation and Impact”

International Event Partners (IEP) is pleased to announce Egypt Invest 2006, the 4th International Investment & Trade Conference in Cairo, on the 6th & 7th December 2006.

IEP have been organising Egypt Invest since 2003, when the Egyptian Economy was still facing major difficulties in attracting FDI and presenting a clear vision of how to move forward. The 2003 conference was a clear success from the perspective of the delegation, giving them the opportunity to openly address many of the obstacles which were faced both from current and potential investors. It also made very obvious that major steps needed to be taking by the Government of Egypt if it was to pull itself out of the downward spiral it found itself in.

This was met several months later by the cabinet shake up which brought in a new Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Nazif, and a fresh cabinet under his leadership. It also included the introduction of a new institution for Egypt, the Ministry of Investment.

IEP followed up this inaugural conference with Egypt Invest 2004, now under the Auspices of H.E. Dr. Nazif. The theme for this conference was “Egypt – Towards Sustainable Growth and Modernisation” and IEP invited international experts from organizations such as OECD, UNCTAD, World Bank, MIGA and COMESA. Since then we have not only learned from what these expert organizations had to say at the conference, but we now find that each has played and some are continuing to play an integral part in helping to reshape Egypt and its economy.

Egypt Invest 2005 was again breaking ground by giving investors and the government the open platform to discuss further the achievements made to date and the candidness to find out what next steps were needed to build on these achievements; under the theme of “Welcome to Your Next Business Opportunity”. IEP was honored to host His Royal Highness, The Duke of York, the UK's Special Representative for Trade and Investment, who spoke at the inaugural session with Egypt’s Premier, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Nazif. IEP also took the steps to make the 2005 conference program one which would highlight the necessity for more trade agreements to allow Egypt greater access to the region. Representatives from the EU, IFC, Egypt-US Business Council covered a host of possible trade agreements that could further Egypt’s position in having a dominant role, not only in the region, but internationally.

Egypt Invest 2006 Objective

IEP has again been working closely with governmental institutions and the private sector to effectively develop Egypt Invest 2006. Its aim to attract even more foreign and first time investors to Egypt and once again take a solid and open look at where Egypt and the government stand today. The theme “Implementation and Impact” will look at the work that has been done since July 2004 by the government and will ask the questions, are we moving in the right direction with the reforms to date and are they really making the difference that is needed in order to keep Egypt on track.

The format will change this year, still a two day conference, but now with 3 panel sessions per day, each designed to allow you the opportunity for greater interaction with the speaking faculty and with your peers throughout the conference. Egypt Invest 2006 will again challenge Egypt’s position and compel the government to maintain its position in having frank and open dialogue to prove it can provide companies and investors with the climate to gain from their investments.
