Description International Event Partners (IEP) is organizing Africa ICT Investment Conference - “Tunis +1”, the 1st International Investment Forum for the ICT sector in Africa, which will take place from the 26 – 27 October 2006 in Tunisia. It is being organized in conjunction with the Secretary General of UNCTAD and under the auspices of the Minister of Telecommunications of Tunisia.

The Africa ICT Investment 2006 Conference is recognized as the next logical meeting platform for the African information and communication technology industry and is designed to address the required developments to sustain the continued renaissance that have helped transform this continent’s ICT sector over the last number of years.

The ICT sector in Africa is one of the fastest developing sectors for emerging economies and many governments of Africa are warmly encouraging the private sector, foreign and local to invest in their ICT by providing exceptional concessions, benefits and level — playing field access to the whole of the economy. Africa ICT 2006 will aim to follow on from the highly successful ground — breaking WSIS 2005 conference in discussing the most pressing investment related issues for the sector.

While it is generally accepted that there is still an enormous amount of work that must be done in order to bring Africa up to the levels of the industrialized, many know that the potential economic and social development that a “connected” Africa holds will be enormous.

But the ICT industry needs know how quickly can this be achieved and in the same breath they are asking to what degree each individual country’s ICT aims and objectives can be meet at the current pace of investment and begin to analysis the required amounts of FDI needed to being channeled into the African ICT industry?

At Africa ICT Investment 2006 you will learn from successful case studies of other multinational investors in Africa. Explore financing opportunities available with multi-lateral lenders, facilitate trading or joint venture partnerships, and develop future strategic alliances and investments.
