Description

Neuropsychiatry focuses on the aspects of clinical and scientific medicine that concerns itself with brain-behavior relationships and endeavors to understand abnormal behavior and behavioral disorders on the basis of an interaction of neurobiological and psychosocial factors. These are tremendously important and exciting times of change for all of us in the field which will likely serve to improve the neurobehavioral care for all our patients.

The University of South Florida College of Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine are pleased to address this new need with its Fourth Annual Keys to Neuropsychiatric Care October 26-29, 2006. This is an intensive 3 day course with up to 13.25 CME/CEU hours that is designed to give participants an update of the relevant areas in the field of clinical neuropsychiatry. A wide range of topics from from dementia and delirium, psychotic disorders and mood disorders to ADHD, pain management, memory disorders, executive dysfunction, and malingering will be addressed by the speakers. Participant interaction will occur throughout the meeting and be enhanced by daily panel discussions involving questions and case material from the participants in the audience.

At the end of this program, the participant should be able to:

Recognize the risks for, and causes of, subcortical dementias, acute confusional states, and delirium.
Evaluate patients with memory disorders and traumatic brain injury.
Plan behavioral and pharmacologic treatment strategies in schizophrenia, psychotic disorders, bipolar disease, and ADHD.
