Singapore Set To Stage Biggest Beer Festival in Asia

SINGAPORE — Singapore confirmed its place on the beer brewing frontier when it announced
that Asia’s largest beer festival will be staged in Singapore over a three-day weekend period, February 02 to 04, 2007.

The event, Singapore International Beer Festival 2007 (SIBF2007) aims at attracting beer brewers from around the world to showcase their products to buyers and distributors in Asia, and at the same time, to create wider consumer awareness about the quality and diversity displayed by the various beers of the world.

SIBF2007 plans to showcase both the traditions and innovations shared by the whole brewing
industry as well as those customs unique to specific countries and regions.

Trade visitors from more than 16 countries, including US, Europe, Russia, China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand are expected to attend this event.

"With the growth of small to medium-sized breweries around the world, more and more people are now enjoying the variety of beers available," said Sophie Xiao, event director of the SIBF2007. "Whether it ‘s beer from US or ale from Europe, or a special brew from Japan or simply the branded canned beer, SIBF2007 will offer beer enthusiasts the widest choice of beers ever offered in Asia."

The 3-day event, to be held at the Singapore Expo, Singapore, will also feature live entertainment, an exciting dance competition and a beer drinking contest.
