The Institute of Economic Affairs has a longstanding involvement in the Air Transport industry, and its Future of Air Transport conference is now firmly established as one of the leading industry events, attracting top executives from across the globe.

This year the conference will be held on 29th and 30th November, with a pre-conference Air Cargo Seminar, now in its second year, which will take place on 28th November.

What is the conference about?

The Future of Air Transport & Air Cargo Seminar provide a unique platform for industry leaders to debate and discuss the strategic direction of the sector, and this year's event comes at a time of record growth in the airline industry, with soaring orders for new aircraft and with many legacy carriers returning to profitability.

However, the challenges currently facing airlines are numerous, from LCC competition to high costs from fuel, infrastructure and security.

Key questions to be addressed include:

Have we reached the peak of revenue and traffic growth?
In the battle of hub-and-spoke vs. point-to-point, which strategy will succeed?
How will the industry share responsibility for its environmental impact?
How can airlines maintain a permanently low cost base?
Where next for market liberalisation and Open Skies?
How can infrastructure deliver the increased capacity needed?
What are the future growth prospects for the emerging markets?
The Future of Air Transport & Air Cargo Seminar therefore come at a timely point, providing an excellent opportunity to engage with these key issues facing the industry.

The IEA can provide this due to the excellent relationships it has developed with key industry leaders - drawing on their knowledge and experience has allowed the IEA to create a unique and insightful event.
