This conference will bring together leading thinkers in the field to review current understanding of the pathobiology, pathogenesis, and therapy of pulmonary hypertension (PH). Presentations include the following topics:
History of PH, focusing on development of current therapies and the role of combination therapy;
Pathobiology of pulmonary hypertension and right heart failure, highlighting the role of inflammatory mediators, angiogenesis, and genetic susceptibility;
Emerging diseases associated with pulmonary hypertension such as sickle cell disease, other hemolytic disorders, HIV, and respiratory disorders such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis;
Potential novel therapies, including antioxidants, nitric oxide donors, vasodilators with pleotrophic effects, and antiproliferative agents.
