With patient choice and the plurality of provision, the competitive marketplace of the NHS is becoming increasingly real. Hospitals can no longer assume that patients will want to be treated at their trust. Marketing is critical for the survival of all healthcare providers, especially Foundation Trust Hospitals under a regime of PbR. Service providers must now put strategies in place to ensure they are the ‘provider of choice’.
