The Energy Convention Groningen 2006 hosts an international platform for ca. 500 representatives from science, business and governments. The convention will enable a dialogue between participants to stimulate an understanding of energy scenarios and strategies for change.

The Energy Convention Groningen is a high level energy conference. For the 2006 edition keynote speakers are
-mr. Kjell Aleklett, Chairman Association for the Study of Peak Oil & Gas, ASPO, Uppsala, Sweden
-mr. NoƩ van Hulst, Director Strategy International Energy Agency (IEA), Paris
-mr. Roelf Venhuizen, CEO NAM / Shell EP Europe, Assen
-mr. Stephan Singer, Director Energy Department WWF, Brussels
-mr Jean-Marie Devos, Secretary General Eurogas, Brussels
Michiel Boersma (CEO Essent NV) and Marcel Kramer (CEO NV Nederlandse Gasunie) will join the plenary forum. All speakers of the parallel sessions, ca. 50 invited by the organizational committee, are senior experts.

The ECG2006 focusses on:
- Tuesday November 21: peak oil & gas, transition fuel, gas technology, gasmarkets & underground storage.
- Wednesday November 22: Energy Transition from countries, cities and regions + Europe: EU Gasmarkets and EU Energy Policy. Cities: Moscow, Barcelona. Regions: Energy Valley, North Sea Region. Countries: South Africa, Germany.
- Overall theme is energy transition. We think this can only be achieved by cooperation between companies, authorities and knowledge institutions, which is reflected in the 'triangular' background of the keynote speakers and parallel session speakers.

Parallel sessions
There are ca. 25 parallel sessions that deal with subjects in the field of the above listed themes. As mentioned before, the overall objective is to present themes and energy transition from the perspective of business, government and science. A session takes 90 minutes, 20 minutes for three speaker (business, science & authorities), 30 minutes left for discussion.

The Energy Convention Groningen 2006 (ECG2006) will take place November 20-22, Groningen, the Netherlands.
