Of all challenges currently confronting data centres, as they continue to achieve continued growth, those of power and cooling characterise the most concerning and perhaps the most difficult to resolve in the short term.

For those data centres constructed during the dotcom boom years, many often lack the power and cooling capabilities needed to support high density hosting.

Demand too is forcing the pace, as customer requirements increasingly look for higher capacity and greater transaction power and shift towards 10 kilowatts for rack servers. Extremely dense blade servers could double again power specifications.

Investment will be required to make the enhancements necessary, but there remain a range of critical issues to resolve including what type of cooling systems to put in place. Water cooling for example, is showing signs of early adoption in the US market.

To focus on these issues, and the array of solutions that may become available, the Power and Cooling convention and exhibition will provide an exclusive industry forum dedicated to delivering practical insight, technical, operational and commercial insight into developments and solutions in the sector.

Researched and produced by BroadGroup, the event derives heritage and continuity with the Data Centres Europe and Asia series of events.
