The 5th International Summer School on Pattern Recognition will cover the following topics:
statistical pattern recognition and multivariate statistics
neural networks and reinforcement learning
evolutionary computation and optimization
classification, and data mining
machine learning systems for real applications
The participants are welcome to register for the summer school and submit research papers for peer review for presentation at the International Workshop on Advances in Pattern Recognition (IWAPR). The topics for IWAPR include the above summer school topics applied to a range of applications, including but not limited to computer vision and image processing, signal and speech processing, robotics and autonomous systems, knowledge based systems, medicine and healthcare, predictive systems, defense, security and military applications, telecommunications, bioinformatics, and others.

The summer school in 2007 will be presented as a set of tutorials with an introduction to pattern recognition tools. Leading experts in the area of pattern recognition will give lectures and teach introductory to advanced pattern recognition techniques at this important event.
